Lived in Vermont my whole life so i cant say as though Im surorised with the volatile soring temperatures. Less than a week after packing away the heater, thermostat, and greenhouse plastic all of it had to come back out again. We had two 90-degree days this week. Tonight there's a frost advisory. Of course it lands on pollination day, arguably the most temperature-sensitive moment of the entire season.
No complaints though. Got a mini hoop house set up over the fruit zone and it's dialed in at a steady 70 degrees. Pollen tubes are growing in comfort tonight.
Honestly I may keep this structure up through most of the cell division window. Cell division rate is directly temperature dependent and every night I can keep the fruit temperature between 68-72 should have a positive impact on final cell count and I'm leaving nothing on the table.
Here's to hoping the plant makes it through tonight. Allllll the fingers crossed.
