Probably a combo of sun plus also maybe the EC/salts has gotten too high... a bit too much on the nutrients? The plants that are a lighter green will not burn as easily and counterintuitively they can be more efficient in producing sugars.

We all have nutrient issues, but I will pick on Matt D in a positive way and make his plant last year the poster child for a well-fed balanced plant. Even though there may be better plants I will pick on Matt because he is an actual agronomist.

Nudging them in that direction might mean shading them. I hope that helps and I hope you grow a huge pumpkin.

Sounds good. But I really think the issue was the sunlight because after those hot days, all the new appearing leafes developed just fine.
