Plant is about 4 feet long and the main got caught on my glove and folded into a 90 degree angle (maybe more).
There is no tear\rip, but it is a full crease at 90 degrees. I moved it back and used bamboo sticks as a splint to leave overnight.
Would you start a new main with a secondary or hope the main doesn't have too much internal damage and go with it.
It was completely folded but zero external damage.
Please post your opinion and thanks

Smooth move ex-lax. Let's see how she do...and get the back up vine ready...it's still early if she on the ground and running imo.

Give it a couple days. It might make the decision for you.

I have found in my first year because of a rookie mistake planting on a substantial mound that a vine collapse can cause a complete tear across the top of the main vine lol. Only the bottom half of vine remained. Happened at 2 ft and was still growing at 5ft before I culled it. Just had another one beside it with no tear. Growth didn't seem to slow down at all after tear.

Yeah, I agree see what it does, nature has a way of making new pathways and reconnecting. Think of how in people severed nerves eventually can reconnect. Or even in graftng.... two severed plants can recoonnect and heal and become one. Plants are closer too the terminater than humans LOL (kind of goes along with the weird posts happening on the "other topic" board right now.)

Thanks, I noticed this morning there is a parallel tear where the crease was on the bottom. I have it straight and will let it heal the next few days. It already is rigid in that spot again and has ballooned up a little which is indicative of healing in the pumpkin world.
If I keep this main (hope to), I will have to come up with a plan for the slightly open bottom scar. In my experience all scars were on top and just kept dry.

John, great points, hopefully this happens to my pumpkin plant... Instead of waking up a genius, it'll grow me 2K!
