I have lost 2 pumpkins both have gotten off to a great start about 16" on day 7 and then on day 8/9 they have started to get soft and get brown spots.... pollination issues or something else? Any advice?

Heat/pollination issues. Did you pollinate them?

Fletch Sometimes it's just natural that they abort. Or, maybe it's too wet or too hot. Put sand, styrofoam or pulpmill fabric underneath to keep them dry and shade them.

Thanks for the advice I think they just got to hot, I pruned the side vine next to it so I could get at it better and it took some shade off of it and it's been hot here.
