My prize pumpkin is getting big. The perfectly round shape is now starting to flatten. I've got it in a sand pit and want to know if there's any danger of it cracking or anything else I should be worried about it. When should I put the lifting net/sheet underneath it? My neighbors are doing daily drive bys. We're all loving it.

There is a 33% chance it will split or get a soft spot. But that happens to all of them. It's a part of this bitter sweet sport. As far as lifting net's ect. wait until your ready to take her to your weigh off
  Cheers

I hope you dont have it in a hole... Need to keep her high and dry to make it to the finish line. Mr. T is right on dont try to put any lifting device under it, use a lifting ring or the ole roll it up on its side and slide a tarp under it technique at weigh-off time.
